About me

Thank you for your interest in learning about me. I am keeping this website to track my progress, take notes, and present my work as I paint.

As an Engineer who graduated from the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technical University of Timisoara, I have pursued my dream profession as an IT consultant since 1991. I am one who found excitement and passion for a new career in painting and drawing late in life.

Being fascinated by patterns, forms, and shapes, my domain of interest is the graphical representation of architecture. The light and shade help highlight the results of human imagination. Thus, I aim to help my viewers imagine the beauty of urban and rural landscapes, as I experience them on my trips.

As I matured in my professional life, I found pleasure and motivation in occupations from my childhood, when observing my Grandmother painting and sketching, I often tried my hand too. But I found myself wanting to get better, so I pursued self-directed education in the arts, mostly by taking online courses over the years and practicing when time allowed.

Back in 2015, I completed two online training courses on drawing from the same team of tutors: Drawing Academy and Anatomy Master Class. Only sketching and drawing compositions with pencils, crayons, or charcoal were excellent means to express my interest in the arts for a long time. As I kept visual notes in mixed-media booklets of our vacations by sketching cityscapes and landscapes, I used small sets of watercolours for many years.

After a while, I found that my compositions were missing a key ingredient: colour.  To learn the proper use of watercolour, I have been taking most of the online classes provided by Jill Poyerd, as well as many videos and books by James Gurney, Ian Roberts, and Hazel Soan since 2020, and practice often.

Now in retirement, I am dedicating most of my time to the arts, especially painting and drawing.

I am also an active follower and admirer of Thomas W. Schaller, for grandiose  architectural realism, Joseph Zbukvic, for masterful impressionistic painting, and Oliver Pyle, for beautifully simplified realism. This is only to mention a few of the painters who inspire my work. My list of contemporary master artists is growing.
