Painting a cityscape of Venice. Group of people
Last week, I sketched after a photo taken in Venice along the Riva degli Schiavoni, in which two people were walking at an angle, the closest to my view, which appeared very schematic.

This weekend, I attempted to draw and paint a close-up sketch of the two. I must admit that I need a lot of practice in all aspects of painting and drawing, especially in representing movement on two-dimensional media that look “believable” to a human observer.
Here is what I obtained by investing half an hour in drawing as a preliminary study (to train my hand and eyes after the picture above).

Painting after the drawing took me a bit longer. The challenge is to remain motivated, not to ruin the work with tiny corrections. The dimensions of this sketch are limited to 5″ x 7″ allowed on fine-grain cotton watercolour paper.
