Study of an imagined scene at Sunset
Following my recent vacation in Aruba and the fresh memories of the beautiful beaches I saw there, I was thinking of warming up a little by playing with the brush on watercolour paper and painting an imagined sunset.
Here in Toronto, it is still very cold. Yet my imagination can play scenes to keep me warm. Here is one that I painted the other day.

I wish I had used a warmer yellow (such as transparent yellow) rather than the cool one (lemon yellow) I had on hand at the time.
My critique (wife) also mentioned the extended shadow at the back of the silhouette as misleading to her eyes, but the intention was to place her on the diagonal line from the Sun as drawn through the yacht.
On the bright side, though, I keep practicing watercolour painting for my next career move, enjoying the little time I can spare on it.
