Light and shadows in Tuscany

We stayed at this host and spent two weeks in Monsumano Terme last Summer. Before departing, I took this inspirational photo shot of the front yard. Being emotional about leaving behind such fun memories of Tuscany, the light and the shadows cast by the large garden containers appeared beautiful. I could not resist taking a photo with a promise to myself of painting a watercolor after the scene.

And I made time during one of my weekends to sketch a preliminary drawing as I used to with all my paintings.

Then, I transferred the sketch to watercolour paper (Arches 300 lb) and completed the paint the next weekend.
