Tuscan hamlet on the hill
Last summer, while visiting the village of Vinci, we drove up and down the hills on narrow roads like the one seen in the drawing below. I still remember the excitement of seeing the birthplace and the surroundings where Leonardo da Vinci grew up.

I used the sketch above as inspiration for a new painting/experiment. My aim this time was to stretch the watercolour paper on foam board using staples along the edges. The result of the painting was satisfying because I had no fear employing deep washes to paint the sky and the background without leaving many hard edges.
