At Cascais in Portugal
The South-western tip of Europe

Portugal is a lovely country to visit as a tourist, especially in the Summer. A few years ago, I spent a beautiful holiday in Portugal and took many pictures of interesting sights. Searching for one to inspire my future work in watercolour and maybe a large painting, I came across the image of a nice holiday villa built on a lagoon located in Cascais in Portugal.

It was late morning when we walked along the road leading to the Cabo Raso Lighthouse, and mesmerized by the sight, we stopped to take a few photos of the area. I can still vividly recall my deep feeling of amazement. Those colours, those strong contrasts of value produced by the vegetation grown all over the building and the deep blue of the water. Striking, ehe.
Today, I took my time sketching a representation in pencil in a drawing notebook (8×6 in) and a value study of the same size.
